Karaportti service point - questions and answers
The Karaportti service point will provide health station services for residents of Järvenperä, Karakallio and Viherlaakso starting from 1 September 2026.
If you live in Viherlaakso, Karakallio or Järvenperä, you will become a client of Karaportti Service Point on 1 September 2026. Karaportti Service Point will open at Karaportti 5, 02610 Espoo.
Currently, your health station is Samaria Health Station, Leppävaara Health Station or Kilo Health Station.
Frequently asked questions
You do not need to do anything. From 1 September 2026, you will automatically become a client of the Karaportti service point for healthcare matters.
When you call, select Karaportti service point from the telephone menu by choosing option 4 ("Karaportin palvelupiste").
When sending a non-urgent message in Lunna, select Karaportti service point. You can continue to use the Lunna chat as before.

A nurse will assess your need for care and direct you to the appropriate location if necessary.
Urgent care may be provided at the following health stations:
- Viherlaakso residents: Kilo Health Station
- Karakallio residents: Leppävaara Health Station
- Järvenperä residents: Samaria Health Station
During evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays
The Lunna chat service is available until 20:00 in the evenings and at weekends.
If you need urgent care in the evenings or at night from 16:00 (PM) to 8:00 (AM), or at weekends or on public holidays, you will be treated at the HUS Jorvi emergency department. Always call the Medical Helpline, tel. 116 117, before you go to the emergency department. If you need immediate emergency assistance, call 112.
Designated doctor model
Designated doctors will work at Karaportti service point, and one of them will be assigned to you. You will also be assigned a designated nurse, who will usually be your first point of contact.
The designated nurses will start 1 September 2026. The designated doctors will begin their work in stages during the autumn.

You can ask for this information by phone or by sending a message in Lunna.
You will be assigned a nurse immediately when the service point opens on 1 September 2026. The designated doctors will begin their work in stages during the autumn.
When you become a client of Karaportti service point, you will be assigned a new designated doctor there.
A doctor and nurse pair will be assigned to you when Karaportti service point opens.
Clients will be assigned to the doctor-and-nurse teams as evenly as possible. Where possible, people living in the same household will be assigned to the same doctor-and-nurse team.
Each designated doctor has a set maximum number of patients. If you want to change doctors, we will check whether another doctor at Karaportti service point has room for additional patients. However, we cannot guarantee that you will be assigned the particular doctor you request.
Continuity of care
Contact your designated nurse to discuss how to proceed in your situation. The aim is for your designated doctor to take responsibility for your care as soon as possible. The designated doctors will begin working in stages during the autumn.

Yes. Karaportti service point uses the same patient information system as other health services provided by Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County.
No. You can continue to renew your prescriptions in the same way as before. In future, you should direct your prescription renewal requests to Karaportti service point.
Changing your health station
Yes, you can change your health station. However, we cannot guarantee that a doctor who previously treated you at that health station will be assigned as your designated doctor. Further information and instructions on changing health stations: Changing your health station
If you changed health stations less than one year ago, you will remain a client of the health station you chose for the remainder of the one-year period. You can apply for a switch to become a client of Karaportti service point from 1 November 2026 at the earliest.
If you live in Karakallio, Järvenperä or Viherlaakso and have not changed to another health station, you will automatically become a client of Karaportti service point.
If you live in one of these areas but have previously changed to another health station, you can apply to become a client of Karaportti Service Point from 1 November 2026.
You can also apply to become a client of Karaportti Service Point if you live in another area and want to choose Karaportti Service Point as your health station.

Other important
Karaportti has good public transport connections.
Parking spaces are available for clients in front of the service point. Parking is limited to one hour. Enter your vehicle’s registration number using the device in the entrance lobby.
The service point has its own accessible entrance at ground level, to the left of the building’s main entrance.
You do not need to check in when you arrive at Karaportti. If you have an appointment, go directly to the waiting area. A member of staff will collect you from the waiting area when it is time for your appointment.
Karaportti service point offers standard appointments with doctors and nurses. Laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging are available with a doctor’s referral at HUS Service points(external link). The patient office is open on weekdays from 9:00 to 10:30.

Opening Karaportti service point is one step towards achieving this goal. The designated doctor model is intended to improve continuity of care and strengthen the care relationship between each client and their doctor.
